Hi Everyone! Welcome to More Fruit Please!

I’m Bethany, a twenty-five year-old girl trying to find the healthy balance in life. I used to not live such a healthy lifestyle. Think eating entire bag of Ruffles in one sitting and eating McDonald’s several times during the week. But as part of growing up, I realized that it was time that I started becoming responsible with my health. I started making some pretty big changes when it came to my food choices (that also resulted in a significant weight loss) and am much happier in life now. You can read about my history with food and weight here. It’s taken me a while, but I’m finally in a happy place with my body and with what I eat. I’ve learned to take care of my body by eating good, wholesome food and allowing myself indulgences without feeling guilty.

I recently just moved across the country from Seattle to Connecticut, all in the name of love. You can read up on the guy and more of my loves here. I lived in Seattle for three years, and prior to that, I used to live in Florida. I guess you could say that I get around bit.

As part of my healthy lifestyle makeover, I’m also trying to become more of an active person. I definitely struggle more with the fitness than food, but thankfully I have Prince, my cocker spaniel, to drag me outdoors to get moving.

Thanks for reading and I hope you continue to come back! Feel free to email me any questions or thoughts at bethany63@gmail.com.

  1. You are adorable!!! Can’t wait to keep reading more and more! :) You hooked me!

  2. You are too sweet! Love the blog! Love the pics! You are adorable!

  3. And I’m not just going to say this because you said so, but that header pic is seriously very sweet! :)

  4. actually the header is nice…i thought it comes with the wordpress theme…then you must be a pro! :)

  5. Reading this reminds me of me so much!! During college I lived right across the street from Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, and a McDonalds. And yes, I did frequent ALL of them OFTEN. I don’t think I will ever be able to say that I dont like that type of food because I do, I just like feeling good better :)
I didn’t have luck w/ dieting either because knowing that I should eat a salad made me not WANT to eat a salad. Now, knowing that I crave veggies bc they’re so fresh & delicious makes me want to eat a salad.
Anyway, its nice to hear from someone else that has come a long way like me (I still have a ways to go but I’m getting better!)

  6. Welcome to Seattle!

Hope you’re settling in nicely-I’ve been told we’re a bit ‘chilly’ here, especially to our friends from the always gracious South and upbeat Midwest. I’m sure you haven’t experienced any of that, though. I think the climate tends to cause people to have a fuzzier outlook than if the sun were shining 365.

I found your blog link from another food/health blogger. You’re too cute for words. Moving across the country away from family and friends is a courageous step and it’s inspiring to young women. I love your story! I look forward to hearing more!

    Good luck in your journey!

  7. Oh, my gosh! I’m so glad I found your blog. I am preparing to move from Florida to Seattle!! I’m going to use your blog as thorough research. Any tips for a fellow sunchild? I’ve heard Seattle is beautiful, but veryyyy rainy.

    • Make friends with tanning lotion and a rain jacket! When the sun’s out, this is one of the most beautiful places ever. But… the gray and the short days can really get to ya after awhile. I find that getting outside and getting some sort of exercise – even in the rain – helps. Good luck with the move!!

  8. I am jealous that you are living in Seattle!! I grew up there and recently moved, and your photos make me miss it!!

If you haven’t already check out Stumptown Coffee and Portage Bay Cafe ASAP! :)

  9. Hi there fellow Connecticution! So fun to find other readers in the area! What part of CT are you living in?!
